Join the Glasgow School of Art Choir for a unique and memorable evening. The Composeher world premiere concert features new choral works by seven amazing female composers.

Composeher was borne out of a recent survey revealing huge gender inequalities in the granting of music commissions between male and female composers.

As an established champion of new music, the GSA Choir Composeher project has created some wonderful new work exploring a wide range of subjects relevant to our time including a beautiful meditation on the death of a loved one; the birth of a child; a prayer for refugees and a paean to the natural world. Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of this unique occasion and to hear these remarkable works performed for the first time.

Find out about some of the composers and their work at the pre-concert talk hosted by Dr Anna Beer, cultural historian and the author of Sounds and Sweet Airs: The Forgotten Women of Classical Music (Oneworld, 2016). The pre-concert talk takes place in the Grand Hall, where audience members can hear more about the pieces in the evening’s concert. The pre-concert talk is free to all ticket holders and begins at 6.30pm.
