The GSA Choir’s Composeher project has won the Making Music Award 2023 for the Best Project With A Focus On New Music.

The influential Making Music Awards celebrate music creators, arrangers and innovative new music projects. The winners were announced on 5 October at a special ceremony hosted by composer Debbie Wiseman, OBE.

GSA Choir, Musical Director Jamie Sansbury, said: “Composeher is our most ambitious project to date so we are delighted it has been recognised with this award.

“We’re incredibly proud of the 7 new choral pieces that have been created. Having premiered them in May 2023, we’re looking forward to recording them so that other choirs can perform them in future. Winning this award is tremendous – it’s a fantastic opportunity to draw attention to Composeher and the brilliant female composers with whom we have so enjoyed working.”
